DAVID LULIC

My first memory was not a lullaby. It was sirens swallowing the night.
My mother covering windows. Television light on frightened faces. buildings learning how to disappear.
I grew up believing beauty was temporary. That every room could become a ruin.
Maybe that's why I build worlds before they burn.

The image holds—
for a moment longer than it should.
Light stutters.
Edges soften, then sharpen too much.
She repeats herself
in glass, in motion, in passing metal—
almost the same,
never exact.
Speed erases intention.
Stillness feels staged.
Something slips—
not enough to notice,
just enough to feel.
The surface stays intact.
But underneath,
it’s already breaking.
